This project is a spatial experiment. The interior walls and ceilings undulate, creating a dizzying and disorienting environment inside. As an exhibition space, how might this destabilization effect your perception of the displayed artwork? As an educational studio space, how might it effect your work?
Dimensional Disturbance is a Shaulager addition onto the Tang Teaching Museum in Skidmore, New York. A Shaulager is a particular building designed for both exhibition and storage. The Shaulager in this project is located below-grade; it has one massive room with half-partitions for exhibition and tucked away shelves and offices for artwork storage. Above ground, the two-story white masses house classrooms, studios, and more exhibition space for events at the Museum.
